Adult foster care allows an individual to live in the home of his or her caregiver where personal care and support services are provided. The individual lives in a family environment where care is part of the rhythm of life that naturally occurs when people live together in the same home.
Personal care and support services might include basic grooming including bathing, care of hair, and assistance with clothing; assisting with medications, scheduling and assuring the individual gets to medical appointments; performing household services essential to the individual’s health and comfort in the home; assessing, monitoring, and supervising the individual to ensure safety, health and welfare; light cleaning tasks in areas of the home used by the individual; preparation of a shopping list appropriate to the individual’s dietary needs and financial circumstances, performance of grocery shopping activities as necessary, and preparation of meals; personal laundry; incidental neighborhood errands as necessary including accompanying the individual for walks outside the home.
Vision Mentors offers two options: we will assist the individual in finding a foster home; we can also assist interested foster providers to find individuals that are a good fit for the providers’ lifestyle. In both cases, Vision Mentors assures training and documentation are compliant with state DODD rule 5123:2-9-33.
