Vacation Club is a vocational habilitation program of Vision Mentors, LLC. Vacation Club uses a small business to earn money for their vacation and achieve greater independence. Through Vacation Club, adults with DD (developmental disabilities) learn important life skills such as problem solving, money skills and financial responsibility, and relationship building. The business not only teaches and reinforces these skills, it pays for their vacation.
Vacation Club: Program breakdown
• Monday-Friday: 10:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. • Business Partners have ownership, make decisions, problem solve, and schedule their workday • Vacations are paid for by the profits from their business • In addition, they receive a bi-weekly paycheck • Learn to use Microsoft products such as; Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access Database, Publisher, and more! • Learn money and accounting skills, such as, counting and wrapping money, preparing for bank deposits and withdrawals, and balancing accounts
Roles and Involvement includes:
• Partners choose their vacation destination, make the plans and use their business profits to fund their vacation • Research includes the internet, maps, books, the library, and travel professionals • Planning includes, meals, entertainment, locations, travel costs, and travel arrangements • Opportunity to be in the community daily • Previous destinations include, Bahamas, Disney World, Alaska, and the Mexican Riviera

My favorite thing is when we went to Alaska to pan for gold and go to the Red Onion Saloon, the salmon bake, eating on the cruise ship, going on move jobs and vending machines. I’ve learned how to greet people, listen, eye contact, shake hands, and tell them my name. -TYLER
